THERAPY FOR ADULTS
Sometimes we just need some extra support.
We carry so much with us - pain, joy, trauma, anxiety, and a wealth of wisdom and memories. Feeling powerless in your own life can be extremely painful. Living a life dictated by others, whether that is friends, family, the media, or our society as a whole can be exhausting. And doesn't it feel unjust when you're writing your own story, but you're not even the main character? Maybe depression and anxiety have consumed you and taken over the show. Perhaps grief stepped in to write a chapter, but now you can't regain control. My approach in working with adults is to cultivate a space where we can have conversations that help you regain power in your own life again. I believe the human spirit is resilient and wildly capable of accomplishing great things. We can easily lose sight of our own superpowers and skills. My hope in therapy with adults is to rediscover and strengthen your own unique approaches to tackling problems.
I offer individual therapy to adults facing all types of problems - anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and more. I have specializations in several areas including abuse recovery, identity exploration, cultural issues, and LGBTQ+ issues. My goal when working with you is to make you feel comfortable and accepted - that is where we must start. From there, we can begin working on your goals together. My approach is collaborative and emphasizes equality between myself as the therapist and you as the client.
I offer couples counseling to adults in all stages. I see both heterosexual and same sex couples. My goal in seeing couples is to help each member of the couple feel heard and understood. I do not seek to side with one person, but rather elevate both voices in order to understand both of your values. Couples counseling can be life saving for a relationship. If you are already seeing me as an individual client, you are always welcome to bring your partner in to a session as a witness to the work being done.
I offer family therapy to families of all types. Coming from a blended family myself, I know how important family therapy can be. In my approach to family therapy, I seek to listen to every family member and help all members understand each other. I honor the voice of your youngest children, to your oldest family member. Your family is made up of unique and important members. My goal is get to the root of the problems by learning each family member's values and hopes.
